A simple proven process

  • Sludge is fed at low pressure into the belt filter press and is compressed as the belt slowly moves the sludge in a circular motion between stainless steel rollers.
  • Free water passes through the belt filter and the sludge dewaters as it travels along the belt.
  • The force of the belt filter on the sludge is sufficient to dewater the sludge resulting in an exceptionally dry filter cake.
  • At the end of the process flocculated sludge is removed from the belt filter and exits the process via conveyer belt.

Reliable, simple and modular

The technology is reliable due to its simplicity and refined operating procedures. It requires minimal supervision and one operator is able to operate multiple units if required.
The plants are designed in a modular manner to meet a variety of customer requirements or an ability to expand as customers grow.

Depending on nature of slurry, through put varies from circa five cubic meters to twenty cubic meters per hour and is controlled through variable speed drives within the system.

Low maintenance

  • The plant was designed in a manner to ensure survival in the harsh African mining environment with minimal maintenance.
  • The plant is constructed from stainless steel.
  • The number of mechanical parts is minimal.
  • The design enables the belt to have a slow rotational speed.
  • Automated greasing on high wear areas ensures lower wear on frictions areas.
  • The belt is self cleaning at the end of each rotation.
  • Spare parts are readily available off the shelf.
  • Maintenance is minimal, under standard operating conditions the filter belt is changed
  • every 2000 hours.
